Evidence Based Psychological Treatment:
Solution Focused Therapy
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) aims to provide short term goal focused and evidence based approaches to support clients to make positive changes in their mental health by focusing on solutions rather than on problems. It incorporates principles from positive psychology and motivational change techniques to help you look towards a life beyond mental ill health, and to develop the tools to get there.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a highly effective therapy for treating anxiety disorders, depression, anger, and low self esteem. It is based on the idea that the way we think and "talk to ourselves" can have a significant impact on how we feel emotinally, how we react to external events and stressors, and how we feel about ourselves (self esteem), our relationships, and the world around us. When we think negatively most of the time we are more likely to feel chronically depressed, stressed, angry, and anxious.
Trauma Informed Therapy
I am a Trauma Therapist. What does this mean? I am trauma informed and trained. I have a deep understanding of how trauma can impact our physical and mental health including the neuroscience behind how our our brain and body respond to trauma. I provide evidence based interventions to help your mind and body recover from trauma.
As part of my assessment process with you, I will determine whether any past or current experiences of trauma may be contributing to your mental health concerns, relationship challenges, or making it hard for you to navigate and cope with life. Trauma can show up in many ways, it can influence our thinking styles, our perception of threat and sense of safety, our ability to have connected and healthy intimate relationships and friendships, it can impact our self esteem, our parenting styles, and coping behaviours. It can also impact our bodies! The research tells us that exposure to traumatic events can increase our risk of developing mental and physical health issues, this risk significantly increases the earlier in life we are exposed to trauma and the more life traumas we experience.
